2005 Jaguar X-Type 3.0 Sport Manual

Kinja'd!!!

This is a really nice and really rare Jaaaaaaag, that I find to be quite interesting since it isn't you typical German sedan with a stick. Power comes from a 3.o litre V6 engine developing 228 hp. and 206 torques. I find them attractive when they are in this sport trim, and this one hasn't got too many miles. Also, you can get one for much less.

Jags like this (but non sport auto) go for under $5k around me ALL DAY with like 60k miles or less. It's crazy!

And I bet to anyone they look like these classy Jaaaags and the person driving them is somewhat wealthy. I just think this one is very cool.

I have one as my DD but it's mono colour BRG, it's fun to drive because the AWD has a 40/60 RW bias. Although mine is starting to look a little tired and I need to have the wheels redone.

Oh I also found a BRG in the site, it looked so good. British cars just look good in green.

If I recall correctly, these weren't exactly super reliability.

I like the looks, but reliability is important.

How's the reliability? I've always liked these but feared the bills.

They mostly are Ford engines aren't they? I don't know but I feel this would be a bit more reliable than ZeGermans.

Reliability IS important. (Say the guys who own more than 10 year old VAG products.)

I had the first month of absolute torture. The car blew its ignition coil 4 Times, and it just stopped working in random intersection. Im not talking at the side of the road, I mean, AT the intersecting process in AN intersection. Then, I bought one from the dealership and worked ever since. Electrical gremlins do happen, but I just try to ignore them and appreciate them when they are gone. Oh and Yesterday THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF! (Its that important).

Ouch, How many miles on it?

Luckily, most of the preventative maintenance, and high priced items had already been changed before my ownership. A picky trunk is all I've seen wrong with it. Runs fun, seems reliable.

Haha 125,000 bought, and now 127,500 but the engine revs and runs like a champ. I love driving it, that why I begged by father not to sell it in spares when the 4th Ignition Coil blew.

Overall pretty good, I did have the tranfercase blow up on me however I'm not entirely convinced that it was the car's fault. Reason being is that about a month prior I had the sump gasket replaced at The Great Britain's in Willow Grove PA (it required the t-case be dropped for one effing bolt and at the time I didn't have the facilities to do that big of a job) and I've come to the conclusion that they're thieves and liars so it is very possible they didn't refill the t-case correctly. It is for the most part a Ford Mondeo, just wearing a really nice suit.

Edit: That is the only major issue I've had with it, I need to redo the sway bar bushings and the carrier bearing on the front drive shaft needs to be redone but that is after 132000 miles. The engine is chain driven so no belts to worry about apart from the serpentine belt.

I have mixed feelings about these, I do think they get a much worse rap than they should. They look good, they aren't huge, and while they may not be true Jag's underneath (Mondeo platforms with Duratec based engines) that actually works to their favor, as pre-Ford Jags are iffy at best in terms of reliability. This one is set up pretty well with the more powerful 3.0 (vs the 2.5) and the correct transmission. I own a Mondeo based car with the wrong transmission (02 Cougar) and honestly you want to avoid any CD4E transmission, this having the manual should be pretty bullet proof.

I think the Mondeo was one of the best sedans ford Built. I mean, the S220 was awesome, but so rare.
